GESCO was the original acronym for "Groupe d'Etude des Systčmes de COnduite de la vigne". It was started by Alain Carbonneau and others, and was originally, as the name implies, focused on training systems. The group grew and the focus on training systems was dropped. Recently the group renamed itself to: "Group of International Experts of vitivinicultural Systems for CoOperation".
