PRESENTATION
Experimental and clinical pharmacology and therapy
The overall goal of this specialisation is to offer young graduates in Medicine, Pharmacy, Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology, Biotechnology, Dentistry and Biological Sciences a cultural, scientific and technological grounding in the field of pharmacology and therapy, to make them able to address issues of research in molecular pharmacology, pharmaceutical biotechnology, cell therapy, pharmacogenetics and pathophysiology of antioxidant therapy.

Cardiovascular Physiology
The purpose of this specialisation is to prepare graduates for research into cardiovascular function, preferably in the fields of biomedicine, biophysics and biochemistry.
The general research programme for the coming years concerns the protection and regeneration of the myocardium. In particular for the study of myocardial protection candidates will study the protective role of endothelial and platelet factors and other endogenous substances, for the regeneration of the myocardium. The opportunity to study the effectiveness of adult stem cell implants in myocardial infarction in rats previously subjected to experimentation will be offered, paying particular attention to the repair of the infarcted area, angiogenesis and the recovery of contractile function. The candidates will be included in the research programme conducted by lecturers and will reach full autonomy in the formulation of questions, preparation and execution of experimental protocols for the experiments.

Physiopathology of mastication and the stomatognathic apparatus. Dental materials
The bjective of this specialisation is to assess the reliability of the most common systems in the world for the study of cranio-mandibular disorders, paying particular attention to the pathology of mastication in the dental neuromuscular, bone and neural aspects (with particular reference to the central nervous system). The goal is to develop techniques functioning as an alternative to medication and psychiatric control of disabling pain cranio-mandibular disorders of great social importance and progressively worsening in terms of epidemiology.
This specialisation therefore provides training for students on various clinical and instrumental methods for the study and diagnosis of the functions and dysfunctions of the masticatory apparatus. Particular attention will be given to the study of masticatory function, phylogenetically ancient movement and important for the survival and quality of life of human beings. The involvement of the nervous system will be the subject of research and analysis through the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fRMI) thanks to the with the University and the Centro Neurolesi in Messina. Muscular pathophysiology will be the subject of in-depth collaboration with the Laboratorio di Ingegneria del Sistema Neuromuscolare e della Riabilitazione Motoria LISIN – Politecnico di Torino, with I.R.C.C. and with the University of Chieti.

Experimental Pathology and Oncology
This specialisation will give graduates the tools of knowledge, methodological and technical training that will make them qualified researchers in this field. The activities planned aim to develop in the researcher's ability to identify research topics within the current scientific issues, to set up the methodology and process that can produce significant experimental results, to draw conclusions from the results on the basis of the initial assumption.
This training programme will be implemented through educational activities consisting of seminars and conferences, and research activities, which will be implemented in various fields under the supervision of tutors and the members of the college faculty.
