Francesca Marucco, zoologa, laureata a Torino, haconseguito Master e Dottorato (PhD) all’Università del Montana, Missoula, USA, dedicatiallo studio dell’ecologia del lupo. Dal 1999 al 2022 ha effettuato studi sulledinamiche spazio-temporali della ricolonizzazione del lupo sulle Alpi. La suaricerca si è concentrata negli anni sulle dinamiche spaziali, demografiche egenetiche delle popolazioni di grandi carnivori, dall’Europa al Nord America,per estendersi alle dinamiche preda-predatore e alla valutazione delleinterazioni con le attività umane, nell’ottica della sostenibilità ambientale edella conservazione delle specie. Esperta di progetti europei, ha scritto,conseguito e attuato progetti europei (Interreg e LIFE). Coordinatorescientifico del Progetto LIFE WolfAlps (2013-2018), premiato con il LIFE BestAward dalla Commissione Europea nel 2019, è oggi coordinatore scientifico del piùesteso LIFE WolfAlps EU. Ricercatore e docente all’Università di Torino, pressoil Dipartimento di Scienze della Vita e Biologia dei Sistemi (DBIOS), è membroaffiliato con l’Università del Montana. Ha pubblicato numerosi articoliscientifici a livello internazionale, libri ed è editore e reviewer pergiornali scientifici. Referente sull’argomento per il Ministero dellaTransizione Ecologica ed ISPRA, è membro di diversi gruppi scientificiinternazionali, tra cui il Wolf Alpine Group (WAG) ed il Large CarnivoreInitiative for Europe (LCIE) (SSC di IUCN).
FrancescaMarucco, zoologist, graduated in Turin, Italy, obtained a Master and a PhD atthe University of Montana in wildlife biology, Missoula, USA, dedicated to thestudy of wolf ecology. From 1999 to 2022 she conducted studies on thespatio-temporal dynamics of wolf recolonization in the Alps. Over the years,her research focused on the spatial, demographic and genetic dynamics of largecarnivore populations, from Europe to North America, extending to prey-predatordynamics and to the evaluation of interactions with human activities, in theperspective of environmental sustainability and species conservation. Expert inEuropean projects, she has written, achieved and implemented European projects(Interreg and LIFE). Scientific coordinator of the LIFE WolfAlps Project(2013-2018), awarded with the LIFE Best Award by the European Commission in2019, she is now scientific coordinator of the larger LIFE WolfAlps EU. Aresearcher and lecturer at the University of Turin, in the Department of LifeSciences and Systems Biology (DBIOS), she is an affiliated member with theUniversity of Montana. She has published numerous international scientificarticles, books and is editor and reviewer for scientific journals. She is thereference person on this topic for the Ministry of Ecological Transition andISPRA, and a member of several international scientific groups, including theWolf Alpine Group (WAG) and the Large Carnivore Initiative for Europe (LCIE)(SSC of IUCN).
