Amon Rapp is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Turin. Previously, he worked as a human-computer interaction researcher at Telecom Italia S.p.A., within the Research & Trends department. In 2018-2019, he was a visiting scholar at Sheffield Hallam University and at The University of Sheffield.

He is the head of the Smart Personal Technology Lab at the ICxT Interdepartmental Center at the University of Turin and is currently the head of the University of Turin research unit of a PRIN 2022 project: Promoting Healthy and Sustainable Eating throughInteractive and Explainable AI Methods (PHaSE).

His research activity concerns human-computer interaction and is profoundly interdisciplinary. In particular, he investigates the everyday needs and practices of people interacting with video games, wearable and personal data collection devices, conversational agents, "persuasive" technologies for behavior change, and Generative Artificial Intelligence systems, as well as explores new opportunities and "design spaces" for the design of interactive systems.

He is the author of more than 140 publications, including 49 articles in international journals. He has published in the leading journals in his research area (e.g., ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction, Human-Computer Interaction, International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, Computers in Human Behavior, Information Systems Journal, Computers & Education) and conferences (ACM CHI, ISWC, ACM CSCW), mostly as first or sole author. He has an H-index of 21 and a total number of citations of 1627 in SCOPUS and an H-index of 16 and 1025 citations in WoS; while in Google Scholar he has an H-index of 27 and 2771 citations (as of 1/11/23).

He has been a guest editor in five international journals and is currently a member of the editorial board of six international journals, including the International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, published by Elsevier, and Human-Computer Interaction, published by Taylor & Francis, two of the most important venues for publishing human-computer interaction works.
