Attività scientifica
Luigi Di Caro è Professore Associato presso il Dipartimento di Informatica dell'Università di Torino (Italia). Ha una laurea e un dottorato di ricerca in Informatica, e i suoi principali interessi includono: Intelligenza Artificiale (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Data Mining (DM), Machine Learning (ML), Legal Informatics (LI) e relative interazioni interdisciplinari con le Scienze Cognitive (CS) e applicazioni di impatto sociale. Ha pubblicato più di 100 articoli in diverse aree di ricerca e ha un H-Index di 22 su Google Scholar (17 su Scopus).
Luigi Di Caro ha collaborazioni internazionali attive con più di 50 persone in diversi paesi, e guida le attività di NLP all'interno del gruppo di ricerca “Social Computing” del Dipartimento di Informatica, dove è/è stato supervisore di 13 dottorandi.
Luigi Di Caro è nel Collegio Docenti del dottorato "Joint International Doctoral Degree in Law, Science and Technology".
Per quanto riguarda il trasferimento tecnologico, ha coprodotto un brevetto con Telecom Italia Lab ed è entrato come partner in uno spinoff dell'Università di Torino (Nomotika s.r.l.) su strumenti basati su NLP a supporto del lavoro degli operatori del diritto. È inoltre co-titolare di diversi agreement di ricerca con aziende che lavorano su temi legati all'AI.
È membro senior di prestigiosi comitati di programma come IJCAI (CORE=A++), AAAI (CORE=A++) e ACL (CORE=A++), EMNLP, ECAI (CORE=A) e revisiona articoli per importanti riviste come il Journal of Artificial Intelligence (IF: 3.034), il Journal of Information Sciences (IF: 4.305) e il Journal of Knowledge and Information Systems (IF: 2.247).
Attualmente coordina/ha coordinato 8 progetti di ricerca europei a diversi gradi: 1 a livello di progetto (budget totale: 868.719 euro), 6 a livello di unità (budget totale: 358.000 euro) e 1 a livello di task. Inoltre coordina/ha coordinato 3 progetti nazionali con un budget totale di 324.000 euro.

Luigi Di Caro is Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Turin (Italy). He has a Master degree and a Ph.D. in Computer Science, and his main interests include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Data Mining (DM), Machine Learning (ML), Legal Informatics (LI) and related interdisciplinary interactions with Cognitive Sciences (CS) and social-impact applications. He published more than 100 papers in several research areas and he has an H-Index of 22 on Google Scholar (17 on Scopus).
Luigi Di Caro has active international collaborations with more than 50 people in different countries, and leads the NLP activities within the “Social Computing” research group of the Department of Computer Science, where he is / has been supervisor of 13 PhD students.
Luigi Di Caro is also in the academic board of the Joint International Doctoral Degree in Law, Science and Technology.
About the technological transfer, he co-produced a patent with Telecom Italia Lab and entered as partner in a spinoff of the University of Turin (Nomotika s.r.l.) on NLP-based supporting tools for the work of legal practitioners. He is also co-holder of different research agreements with companies working on AI-related topics.
He is senior member of prestigious programme committees such as IJCAI (CORE=A++), AAAI (CORE=A++) and ACL (CORE=A++), EMNLP, ECAI (CORE=A) and reviews papers for leading journals such as the Journal of Artificial Intelligence (IF: 3.034), the Journal of Information Sciences (IF: 4.305), and the Journal of Knowledge and Information Systems (IF: 2.247).
